SA CANNES PREDICTIONS BY CATHY IRELAND – ECD WINSTON WOLF
SAB ‘Be the Coach‘ by Ogilvy Cape Town
This landmark piece by Ogilvy redefined the sports sponsorship space. It gets my vote for South Africa’s first Creative Effectiveness Lion.
Nando’s ‘Diversity‘ by Black River FC
This is Nando’s at its funny, controversial best. The commercial really struck a chord with South African consumers. Let’s hope the humour translates for a more international crowd.
Engen ‘Fire Blanket Calendar‘ by Draft FCB Cape Town
This has to be the most useful calendar ever. Every home should have one.
MTN ‘The Anywhere Library‘ by Metropolitan Republic
This zeitgeisty, optimistic activation stands a great chance of cutting through the clutter in the judging room.
MERCEDES-BENZ: COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST DISTANCE TO DANGER ‘LAWYER’ ‘SCOOTER‘ ‘VIRUS‘ BY NETWORK BBDO
Once again, Mercedes cuts through with exquisite writing. This one is bound to impress the jury.
Habitat House ‘Habitat for Humanity South Africa Annual Report‘ by Ireland davenport
Just goes to show that even an annual report can illicit a strong emotional response. This should do as well at Cannes as it has done at other shows.
DSTV ‘HD PVR Campaign’ ‘INTERROGATION ROOM‘ ‘TEENAGE PROBLEM‘ ‘CENSORED’ by Ogilvy JHB
This classically simple and well-executed campaign stands out for me. I think the writing’s clever too. What more could a jury want?
Flight Centre Student Economics ‘BEERONOMICS‘ ‘BURGERONOMICS‘ ‘CONDOMONOMICS‘ by TBWA JHB
I love this campaign. There’s a beautifully true consumer insight behind the idea. Plus it’s really funny. The only thing missing for me was a bankies of zol execution.
Doom Roachville by TBWA
This is an absolutely delightful and rewarding campaign. The craft is simply exquisite in a really gross kind of way.
